Microsoft Windows Server Update Services 3.0 Service Pack1 veröffentlicht!

heute Nacht hat Microsoft das Windows Server Update Services 3.0 Service Pack1 veröffentlicht!

Die WSUS 3.0 SP1 unterstützen nun auch den Windows Server 2008. Bei dem WSUS Server ist der Windows Server 2003 SP1 mindestens Voraussetzung. Für die Administration Console zur remote Verwaltung ist Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003 SP1 oder Windows XP SP2 nötig. Weiterhin sind zur Installation
– IIS 6.0 oder höher
– Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 oder höher
– Microsoft Management Console (MMC) 3.0
– Microsoft Report Viewer nötig.

The improvements that SP1 offers include:
• Support for Windows Server 2008.
• New Client Servicing API:
   • Support client registration.
   • Filter of updates by category and classification.
   • Provide applicability rule extension mechanism.
   • Obtain package metadata and report update status for each client.
• Improvements for local publishing: supports publishing of drivers within the enterprise by using vendor provided catalogs. API include support for bundles and prerequisites.
• All hotfixes: WSUS 3.0 SP1 includes all the changes and hotfixes that have been issued since the release of WSUS 3.0.
• Support for Microsoft SQL Server 2005: WSUS 3.0 SP1 lets you use SQL Server 2005.

Weitere Änderungen am WSUS 3.0 SP1 sind:
•    Ease of use (Manage WSUS from the Administration Console, Manage WSUS remotely, Manage WSUS remotely)
•    Improved deployment options (Obtain updates faster, Set more automatic approvals, Limit access to read-only reporting)
•    Better support for complex server hierarchies (Manage multiple servers from a single console, Create reports for all computers, Configure servers in a cluster, Toggle replica mode, Assign clients to multiple target groups)
•    Better performance and bandwidth optimization (Utilize faster performance, Specify languages in branch offices, Configure separate content and metadata channels)
•    Extend WSUS 3.0 using improved APIs (Move up to .NET Framework 2.0 Support, Go beyond the WSUS console with APIs for advanced management tools, Add optional installation approvals to administrator options, Collect hardware and software inventories, Expand the set of updates with local publishing)
